Severe weather and tropical development for the 4th of July?

By on July 1, 2014

Hi everyone!

Another busy week ahead in the weather department.   We’re watching the threat for strong to severe storms across the Plains and Midwest with a focus on parts of Iowa, Northern Missouri, Southern Wisconsin, Northern and Central Illinois, Indiana and Michigan.  Large hail, damaging winds and strong isolated tornadoes are possible:

And we’re also focusing on a developing tropical system that could dampen (or soak) some plans this 4th of July…

Hurricane Hunters are flying in to investigate this disturbance this afternoon, and we’ll have a better handle on the exact track and strength this time tomorrow afternoon.

One computer model is predicting a pretty nasty day for the Carolina/Midatlantic Coast.  This is just one model – so don’t take it as gospel.  We’ll keep an eye on it…

Meanwhile, it’s feeling a lot like summer for much of the country!  I feel an ice cream break coming on….

Stay tuned everyone!
